For games, I would suggest installing Synaptic and using the "games and amusement" category in Synaptic to search. There are hundreds available.
Michael
P.S. For sudoku fans, I would suggest KSudoku. |

Tremulous is a free, open source game that blends a team based FPS with elements of an RTS |

my favorite linux game has to be Frozen Bubble (#apt-get install frozen-bubble). just plain addicting.
but then i'm a retro-gamer at heart so i do most of my linux gaming with ZSNES. other good emus are FCE Ultra (which still doesn't have a GUI, but hey, it works) and VisualBoy Advance. all can be installed through apt-get/synaptic. if you're into PSX games, there's PCSX and ePSXe. ePSXe is considered to be the best PSX emu but it isn't available from the default repositories, and you need a copy of the PSX BIOS to use it. i'm still on the lookout for a good N64 emulator, because Mupen64 isn't quite there yet. i'm hoping that they post Project64 to Linux. |

Anthony hat folgendes geschrieben::
wolfenstein enemy territory is the best game ever.
it runs great on linux, i've been running it on kanotix for quite some time now.
you can get a download of it right here
http://enemy-territory.4players.de:1041 ... name=files
there's also links to download from www.planetwolfenstein.com
I have to second that. |

I have Quake 3 Arena. I just installed it on my box running Kanotix 2005-04. It runs fine but I have no sound. It mentions that it uses the oss driver, and I know that I have arts running because of kde. Sound works fine otherwise. On my previous machine (running Libranet) I also had kde (2.2.2) and had no problem with audio. Anyone using Quake 3 on Kanotix? |

Hi,
one of my favorites is "The Incredible Machine" - an old DOS game (Sierra) from 1992 (anybody remembers?). Found my old disk and tried it in dosbox (apt-get install dosbox) - hours of fun!

GameStar comes with a new Magazine which is called "Linux für Spieler". It contains a huge amount of Games and Demos beside many tutorials how to install and play up to date games. |

People have already mentioned some of the more graphics intensive games available for free such as Enemy Territory, UT2004 (demo) and Quake 4 (demo). One I have not seen mentioned is America's Army, it's a free multiplayer fps, you can d/l it from the link below.

Just been to the knoppix games forum, linked by some poster here and it's amazing how quite a few people there are having alot of trouble installing nvidia drivers. You'd think they'd have an equivalent to Kano's scripts. |

Swynndla,
For the kids huh??? try "jump n bump" - do an apt-cache search for exact package name... its fun, cute, can be "de-violent" 'ed for the lil ones... You even get a good many of "background" environments to play in...
You play the role of a rabbit, you have to "jump" on top of your opponent to get points, they, in turn, get "killed" and come back to the game after a few seconds... and the game continues... Not too graphics intensive, as far as I know, and is a fun game
Hope this helps, |

Warsow a fast paced FPS.. 3D Engine based on Qfusion (a modification of Quake 2 GPL engine). It launches fine on my Debian Sid box. The graphics were a bit fuzzy on my Nvidia 5600XT card but cleared up within a few seconds. The game seems to play fine although I did not spend much time trying to figure it out. You know you're getting old when the instruction manual is in English but not one word of it means anything. |

I found another network game to try to beat the kids with === "njam".
It's a pacman-type game where you can join up with others to help you eat the dots. Works great. |
