Ok, check this out - because this is really weird. When I use Synaptic for updates, the terminal output is unreadable.
But if copy/paste the terminal output to a .txt file - voila - everything looks just dandy!

This problem is not killing me or anything, but it would be kind of nice to know whats going on anyway. Can anyone shed some light on this?
